- How Georgia compares nationally relative to student achievement
- Trends in education spending, public school reform and the growing school choice movement
Why We Produced the Guide
Education in the state of Georgia is a complex issue. Seemingly straightforward questions such as “How are public schools funded?” or “Are there scholarships available for my child to attend private school?” are, in reality, quite complicated.
During the course of our work in promoting and advocating for K-12 public school reform and greater educational choice, Georgia Family Council (GFC) has encountered nearly every question imaginable related to education in our state. This database contains information from hundreds of different sources, previously unavailable in one place.
Part of GFC’s mission is to provide information about Georgia’s education system that is both easily accessible and understandable. Without knowledge about how our schools operate and the obstacles we face, true reform is impossible.
Our hope is that readers will use this guide as a tool to find answers to questions about education in Georgia and, in turn, be better informed to make decisions for their own families. We also hope that knowing more about education in our state will encourage readers to become more engaged in reforming the system in Georgia.
