GA Supreme Court Strikes Down Assisted Suicide Law

Last Monday the Georgia Supreme Court struck down a provision in Georgia law that made it a felony to publicly advertise services to assist another individual in committing suicide.

In a rare unanimous decision, the law was ruled unconstitutional under the U.S. and Georgia constitutions as violating free speech rights because it targeted only certain types of speech related to assisted suicide.

Constitutional Amendment Introduced to Mend Charter School Ruling

While last week's school choice rally was taking place on the Capitol steps, a resolution (HR 1162) was introduced by Speaker Pro Tempore, Jan Jones, to address last year's State Supreme Court ruling that found the State Charter Schools Commission to be unconstitutional.

More than 2,000 supporters of school choice came out on Wednesday to our third annual School Choice Celebration and Rally.
